Successful Outcome in CAS Arbitration
November 26, 2025We are proud to announce that ALC has successfully represented an Egyptian Professional Football Club in proceedings before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), obtaining a favorable arbitral award in a dispute between our client, the Egyptian Football Association, and another Egyptian football club.
The award overturned a decision rendered by EFA Appeals Committee in a matter related to a contractual claim owed by virtue of a transfer agreement of a professional player. The arbitral award established some legal principles in connection with interpretation of some provisions in the Egyptian Football Association’s Regulations related to Status and Transfer of Players. The award provides insightful and necessary guidelines for Egyptian Clubs in drafting players’ transfer agreements.
The matter was led by Dr. Ahmed Abouzeid, Partner & Head of Sports Law, alongside Mr. Yehia Shahine, Partner & Head of Arbitration, with support of Nour Sabry, Associate and Farouk Weshahi, Junior Associate.
